GPMA HOLDS INDUSTRY ACADEMIA INTERACTION

The Goa Pharmaceuticals Manufacturers’ Association had the formal roll out of its  Vision and Mission, as well as an interactive session between the pharma industry and the academia in Goa, on the 20th of this month at Sanofi-Synthelabo (India) Pvt. Ltd.

The event was attended by around 75 participants from the industry and the academic institutions in Goa and served as a  platform to deliberate on issues of common interest. The GPMA, has over the past few years under the nurturance and guidance of  stalwarts from the Goan Pharma field emerged as a key forum to address multifarious issues pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry in Goa.  

The event served as a  scaffold for ushering in industry and academia collaboration and delved on multifarious issues such as skill building and industry readiness of students,  relevance of the syllabus and how it could be tailored to the present needs of the industry, pro-activeness on the part of the industries to help build student capabilities, which in turn would provide them with a technically sound workforce as well as the need for both the industry and the academia to come together to form joint cells that would consistently attend to the needs of each other for mutual benefit.

Dr. Praveen Khullar, President, GPMA addressed the gathering on Pharmaceutical Industry Overview and Challenges followed by the Vision and Mission Roll out.

Eminent panelist who took part in the discussions were Mr. Pareen Dashottar, Vice President and Plant Head, Glenmark Pharma Limited,  Mr. Anil Gupta, Director, Pfizer Limited, Dr. G. K. Rao, Principal, Goa College of Pharmacy, Dr. Shilpa Bhilegaonkar, Training and Placements Co-ordinator, Rajaram Tarabai Bandekar College of Pharmacy, Dr. Mrs. Neena Panandikar, Principal - Don Bosco College of Engineering and Prof. Meena Parulekar, HCM, Goa Institute of Management. The panel discussions were facilitated by the GPMA President, Dr. Praveen Khullar, who also delved on the way forward.

Mr. Mahesh Gurnasinghani, GPMA Secretary, delivered  the Vote of thanks. The event was compered by Ms. Amaralda Barreto.
